There was a lot made of Tom Brady’s mysterious thumb injury (on his throwing hand) in the week leading up to the AFC Championship game. That is probably because Tom Brady and the Patriots were incredibly vague about it, to a point of purposely wanting to seem shady. Hell, a lot of people didn’t think his hand was injured at all, they thought it was a non-issue and that the Patriots were playing mind games. Turns out, it wasn’t. Dude’s hand was legitimately sliced open.
Even though the Patriots eventually revealed what the injury was, it wasn’t until the final episode — which is episode 6 — of Tom Vs. Time, that we got to see the actual injury and Brady’s stitched hand. In the episode, he also reveals the doubt that went through his mind when he saw his hand. He thought his season could be over.
“I’m looking down at my thumb as it’s split open and I’m thinking, I don’t really know what happened to my thumb but I know it doesn’t feel good and I have a real hard time believing I’ll be able to go out and play well against the No. 1 ranked defense in the league in four days.”
I will warn you, the image of his hand is kind of graphic. So if you don’t like seeing bloody open wounds, you should not scroll down.
