Soccer in the United States is as popular as it’s ever been at any point in the country’s history. The United States has as much talent, both men’s and women’s, as it has ever had at any point in the country’s history.
And yet, that hasn’t translated to the United States Men’s National Team, which crashed out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and has yet to find its footing under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Thankfully, Tom Brady has a solution to the problem!
Tom Brady Believes U.S. Soccer Just Needs To Find Its Own Lionel Messi
Brady, who co-owns English soccer club Birmingham City, has recently taken a major interest in the game. He was even spotted taking in the FIFA Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium last month.
Recently, he went on the “Men In Blazers” to discuss a wide array of topics, including how the USMNT and soccer as a whole in American can get to the next level.
“We need a young phenom like a Lamine Yamal, a young Lionel Messi, to take over,” Brady said. “And I believe that there will be the most amazing cultural revolution for soccer here in America.”
You don’t say, Tom? So, all we need for soccer to take off in the U.S. and for the USMNT to thrive is to find one of the world’s best players? Why didn’t anybody think of that sooner!?
Tom Brady Gets Clowned For His Ridiculous U.S. Soccer Take
Of course, having a superstar would help the USMNT and help grow the game in the United States. It’s not that Brady is wrong. It’s just that he offers no answer as to how to find that player. People have been making the same argument for decades, and yet here we are without such a player.
As you’d expect, Brady got clowned for his take. Even fellow former NFL superstar JJ Watt got in on the action.

“Team needs best player of all time, this is the analysis you just can’t buy, folks,” one fan joked.
“If the USA only had a player or two like the best players of their generation, we might be on to something,” said another.
Brady means well. I’m sure of it. But it’s the exact type of take you get from someone like Tom Brady, who is extremely separated from the real world. Now, when Tom comes to us with some real solutions, then I’m all ears.
