Tony Romo and Jim Nantz had some strong opinions of the Jets‘ offense on Sunday. After another putrid performance, the television hosts called for Zach Wilson to be benched.
They were also heard chastising the franchise during a 15-10 snoozer against the Patriots. Those words have caused a reaction on social media.
New York looked awful once again under center in Week 3, scoring just 10 points in a loss to New England. Wilson completed just 50% of his passes for 157 yards. He failed to find the endzone against the Pats, and has now failed to reach the 200-yard mark over his first three games.
Wilson was thrust into action after starter Aaron Rodgers was injured on his first series as a Jet. The unfortunate setback means New York supporters are stuck with another year of Wilson at quarterback.
Last year, he struggled, leading to the Rodgers addition. Now, he finds himself back in that undesired situation.
New York has started the year 1-2, failing to score more than 10 points in those two defeats. Through three games, the offense has found the endzone just three times.
The offensive production can be placed squarely on the shoulders of the signal caller, who’s averaging just 156 yards per game while tossing two touchdowns to four picks.
Watching Wilson and the Jets struggle again, Jim Nantz and Tony Romo finally hit their breaking point.
They duo began mocking the offense, calling for Wilson to be benched.
OK, they’ve seen enough.
CBS Sports’ Tony Romo and Jim Nantz say Jets should pull Zach Wilson.
“I think the fan base would love to see it,” said Nantz.

“Romo and Nantz are mocking the Jets and they deserve it.”
“Jets have reached the ‘Romo and Nantz openly mocking them on the broadcast’ level of incompetence today.”
“Jim Nantz and Tony Romo are outright mocking the Jets offense and Zach Wilson.”
They called for Wilson’s removal after watching him unsuccessfully move the ball down the field.
“Nantz begging for a QB change. Romo begging for Hackett to give Wilson a chance to throw on 1st down... Jets are quite the Sunday afternoon soap opera.”
“Romo and Nantz begging the Jets to pull Wilson. You almost never see that from a crew.”
“Wilson has lost the support of Nantz and Romo.”
The broadcast pair are ready to see a change in New York, though the Jets don’t have many options behind Wilson. Left on the depth chart is Tim Boyle who has three touchdowns and eight interceptions over his five-year career.
The team hasn’t lost complete trust in their former first-round pick, but it’s obvious that many watching along this season are growing frustrated.
