Monday night during the Jacksonville Jaguars game against the Cincinnati Bengals, quarterback Trevor Lawrence went down with what many thought looked like a severe injury to his leg.
Lawrence appeared to step on a lineman’s foot and appeared to be feeling a lot of pain in his ankle as he grimaced and slammed his helmet on the ground.
The Jags quarterback would eventually make his way to a standing position, but inexplicably there was no cart on the field to help him get to the locker room.
Instead, Lawrence very slowly and gingerly limped his way to the locker room with the aid of an assistant coach and a security officer.
It was a strange scene to be sure considering Trevor Lawrence’s value to the Jaguars franchise that he had to walk all that way.

Many fans ripped the Jaguars franchise with statements on social media such as, “Good lord, Jags. How far you gonna make Trevor walk? Nobody has access to a golf cart? It’s Florida! It’s all golf carts!”
Others just assumed that Trevor Lawrence was just trying to be tough and not use the cart as some sort of bravado.
Either way, it didn’t make a whole lot of sense.
On Wednesday, however, Lawrence revealed exactly why he wasn’t driven to the locker room on a cart.
“Yeah, we have an amazing medical staff that takes care of us in every way that you could imagine,” Lawrence said with a knowing grin when asked about the bizarre situation on Monday.
“Anything that we need they’re always there,” [except maybe for a cart] he continued.
Trevor said his wife Amanda had filled him in on all of the controversy his walking and not riding to the locker room had caused.
“We talked about getting a cart and I was going to get a cart and then I’m standing there, you know? I’m already on the sideline at that point. The tunnel is right there. I just wanted to get off the field and get out of there.”
Little did he know it was going to end up becoming such an effort to get him off of the field.
“Once I got in there I’m like, ‘This is a pretty long walk,'” he revealed with a chuckle.
“But I was already there and they asked again if I wanted a cart and I’m like, “No, we’re going to make it the whole way there.’
“I didn’t know there were cameras in the tunnel … but no, of course we have carts, we have everything you need. I was the one that didn’t choose to take one … maybe that was dumb.”
