UPDATE: The university issued a statement disputing Torre’s assertion following the publication of this article, and he issued a statement of his own defending the report. The original piece follows after the tweet.

UNC made a huge splash when it announced it had hired Bill Belichick to take command of its football team. However, no one anticipated the drama we’d be treated to in the offseason thanks to Jordon Hudson, the girlfriend-manager who has reportedly been banned from entering the football complex on campus.

The football program at the University of North Carolina has been mired in mediocrity for the bulk of its existence, and that continued to be the case after Mack Brown returned for his second stretch as head coach in 2019.

The Tar Heels did make a bowl in all six seasons where he was at the helm after returning and played in the ACC Championship Game in 2022, but things started trending in the wrong direction after that point.

Things took an interesting turn when Brown announced his plans to return for the 2025 campaign a day before the university said he was being kicked to the curb, and we were subsequently treated to an infinitely more intriguing twist when UNC revealed it had convinced Bill Belichick to come out of retirement and serve as a college football coach for the first time.

At that point, plenty of people were aware Belichick was dating Jordon Hudson, the 24-year-old he met on a plane in 2021 who had already started to serve as his unofficial spokesperson when rumors about the UNC job began to swirl.

However, most football fans who were unfamiliar with that development at the time have become very aware courtesy of what’s transpired in the past couple of weeks thanks in large part to the disastrous CBS interview Hudson inserted herself into before entering the spin zone in an ill-fated attempt to do damage control.

Some people had already expressed concern with the outsized role Hudson had been given inside the program, and those worries were only exacerbated after she started making headlines for all of the wrong reasons. Now, it appears the school is cracking down.

According to Pablo Torre, Hudson has been banned from entering UNC’s football facility, with a source telling him, “Don’t think you’ll be hearing much from Jordon moving forward.”

He also spoke to an unnamed relative of Belichick who sounded the alarm while discussing the impact she’s had since they started dating, saying:

“There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordan can be not just for North Carolina but Bill’s legacy, reputation—everything he has built and worked for over decades.”

Yikes.
