USA men’s volleyball star Matt Anderson had to politely check his wife at the Olympics in Paris. He needed to remind her that he was right in the middle of an important match.
She was distracting him!
Anderson, one of the best players in United States history, is the pride of Buffalo, New York. The 6-foot-10 outside and oppo hitter played at Penn State from 2006 through 2008 and immediately joined the national team after turning pro.
Now 37 years old, Anderson is currently in the middle of his fourth Olympic Games. Team USA advanced out of its group to make the knockout rounds and will play Brazil in the quarterfinal on Monday.
A win over Japan, one of the other eight quarterfinalists, guaranteed that the United States would live to play again. A loss might’ve sent them home.
Anderson finished as the team’s leading scorer with 15 kills and an ace in the four-set victory. However, his wife nearly pulled his focus away from the court while in the crowd.
Matt married Jacquelyn in 2020 and they have two kids together, a boy and a girl.
The latter was trying to remind the former how much she loves him during a timeout against Japan. She just so happened to forget that her husband had more important things on which to focus in that moment.
Matt Anderson acknowledged Jackie and blew her a kiss, but the distraction continued so he had to give her a kind reminder of what was at stake in that moment.
It was a hilarious exchange between husband and wife just goes to show that not even the Olympics can prevent marital shenanigans from causing chaos. Jackie loves Matt too much not to distract him during a do-or-die match on the biggest stage in sports!
