Linebacker Scooby Wright is dominating the USFL with the Birmingham Stallions.
Wright can be seen running around like a madman on his weekends, taking down opposing quarterbacks. His high motor has helped him become one of the league’s most productive players in 2022.
Wright boasts top ten ranks in tackles (50) and sacks (2.0) while leading the USFL in forced fumbles. He’s helped lead a Stallions defense that’s allowing just 17 points per game and leads the league in quarterback takedowns.
That defense has been a major part to Birmingham’s 4-0 start.
When Wright makes a big play, you know it. His celebrations are incredibly entertaining, sometimes maybe too much.
In a game earlier in the year, the defender was flagged with a taunting penalty after trotting like a stallion to the opposing sidelines. The celebration didn’t sit well with head coach Skip Holtz, but it appears that Wright has made a few small adjustments.
Instead of paying tribute to the team mascot, he got inspiration from his spirit animal, which is one of the most bizarre you’ll ever hear of.

After making a big play in his latest game, Wright rushed off the field like something mimicking a shark and a dog. The fantasy creature is apparently the linebacker’s spirit animal.
And it’s actually hilarious to watch him b-lining to the sidelines with one had on top of his head like a shark fin and the other trailing behind like a wagging tail.
Wright will continue his season on Sunday as Birmingham looks to stay undefeated against Philadelphia. Hopefully the shark-dog makes another appearance.
