The Chicago Bears have had a busy week this week. First, they hired Ryan Poles as their new GM. Yesterday, they hired Matt Eberflus to take over as their head coach. It seemed to be a very successful week for the Bears.

However, NFL fans noticed one strange coincidence with the hirings. New GM Ryan Poles and new head coach Matt Eberflus replaced old GM Ryan Pace and old head coach Matt Nagy. It had to just be a random coincidence, right? Well, maybe not.

According to Jon Greenberg of “The Athletic”, it was very much intentional. Per the report, the Bears’ 99 year old owner, Virginia McCaskey, didn’t want to learn new names. That left the Bears with very few options to replace Nagy and Pace.

So here we are. They’ve found themselves a new Ryan and Matt so their elderly owner didn’t need to learn new names. It’ll almost be like nothing has changed at all except that the Bears might actually have hope of winning football games now.

Oftentimes as sports fans, we are required to suspend disbelief. Last weekend, we watched the Bills and Chiefs combine for 24 points in 2 minutes, including a 13 second drive for a tying field goal. The month of March is built on the unbelievable in the world of sports.

Every year, Mets fans convince themselves that this is their year. Sports fans are determined to grasp the unbelievable.

Now, fans are being asked to accept the idea that the Bears are being run based off of an old woman not wanting to learn names. It might be the most unbelievable thing fans have heard since frostbite almost threatened Antonio Brown’s career.

I guess now I have to find out if the Baltimore Ravens run their organization the same way as the Bears. I might have to throw my hat in the ring if they ever fire John Harbaugh.
