I — like seemingly most New York Jets fans, players, and coaches — properly *can’t stand* Zach Wilson. Never liked him from the moment the Jets drafted him and have only spent the last 18 or so months being proved increasingly right. Just look at this dork!
From this moment on, I had zero faith in Wilson, and now, FINALLY, the team that drafted him reportedly feels the same way.
According to NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, Wilson’s time in New York City is effectively over and he toldĀ WFAN’s In The Huddle that the second-year signal caller “doesn’t have a future there.”
āHe doesnāt have a future there.. He lost his job to Mike effing White, you think he wants to be there? No. No! His agents say āYou took this kid second overall and thatās the look you gave him? Thatās how little you believe in him?ā No. Itās over. I donāt know what they get for him, but itās over,ā he said. āHeās not a part of their immediate future and their immediate futureās everything, and in the offseason, both sides are going to have a bunch of reasons why they should move on,” La Canfora said.
He also added that if Mike White were to suffer an injury, he believes the team would turn to Flacco instead of Wilson:
āIf this thing goes off the rails a couple weeks from now because of injury or whatever ā the buggy turns into a pumpkin or whatever ā I think they go to Joe Flacco. I donāt think they go back to Wilson. I donāt think thatās tenable.ā
The fact that the Jets are apparently ready to move on from Wilson after just 20 starts in the league further hammers home was a colossal draft bust he’s proving to be, as it’s difficult to think of many, if any, first-round QBs that have been jettisoned from the franchise that drafted them so quickly.
