Aaron Rodgers finally made his decision after announcing he wants to play for the New York Jets during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
With the front office negotiating a trade with the Green Bay Packers, a deal should come to fruition soon. However, an old quote from Zach Wilson is going viral.
Back in January, Wilson was asked about the scenario of the Jets acquiring a veteran quarterback in the offseason. As it turns out, his answer did not age well.

Hey, maybe he does give Aaron Rodgers hell during training camp. That would at least be a good sign for his future in the NFL. But there is just no way he’s going to beat out Rodgers for the starting spot.
On top of that, Zach Wilson has been open about Rodgers being his idol growing up. In fact, the two quarterbacks have built a solid relationship over the years, per Ari Meirov.
Zach Wilson grew up idolizing Aaron Rodgers and will now get to sit behind him. The two have grown a close relationship. Probably the best for him at this point.
And before you go there…. There is not a single iota of evidence that Rodgers was “bad” to Jordan Love. pic.twitter.com/kheKJNOkl8

So, even though Wilson’s old quote aged terribly, this might actually be the best thing for his career.
He’ll get to sit back and see how Rodgers handles himself as a starting quarterback in the NFL, which is exactly what Zach Wilson needs.
