For perhaps the first time in his professional career, Zach Wilson looked like a real NFL quarterback.
Not only did Wilson perform well — 28/39 passes completed for 245 yards and two touchdowns — but he actually became the first quarterback to ever (literally *ever*) outplay Patrick Mahomes.
But why? How? Not only was it a game against the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, but it was the Jets’ first Sunday Night Football game in over a decade. The pressure was on.
And yet, somehow, Zach Wilson pulled through, and the NFL world thinks they know why: because he knew Taylor Swift, and therefore millions of other women, would be watching.
“Zach Wilson heard like 100 million h— are gonna be watching and decided to be the man, that’s awesome,” said one viral tweet.

“I think Zach Wilson’s ability is determined by how many women are watching. thank you, Taylor Swift,” said another.

Wilson now needs to use his career-best performance on Sunday Night Football against the Chiefs to build a bit of momentum and continue to play well, especially considering the fact that he’ll be taking on the putrid Denver Broncos’ defense this weekend, who have given up 150 points across four games this year.
After opening the year with a brutal schedule that included matchups against the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and Kansas City Chiefs, the Jets will now be taking on the likes of the Broncos, Giants, Chargers, and Raiders in four of the next five weeks.
If the Jets can win three of those games, they’ll likely find themselves right back in the thick of the AFC Wild Card race, especially with teams such as the Chargers, Bengals, Steelers, Jaguars, Titans, etc. all looking relatively average so far this season.
